We didn’t stay at the hotel, but we liked dinner so much that we came back the next night. The food felt gourmet, yet the price seemed fair for the quality. Three of us shared the platter for two and had plenty. The staff were warm and accommodating. I’d recommend trying it for high-quality, authentic Austrian food, especially the meat.

The room was spacious, with a very comfortable bed, softer than the beds I’ve had in some Austrian hotels. It did get quite hot, though, so we often left the window open to cool it down. Food service runs for long hours, which gave us more flexibility than we’ve had elsewhere. Breakfast and the afternoon snack were great, and there’s a good choice of evening meals, mostly classic Tirolean dishes or pizza. We liked being able to decide whether to eat at the hotel. There’s also an enclosed terrace looking over the slopes, a nice spot on a sunny afternoon. The location is especially convenient for skiing. Several slopes meet nearby, and in the morning you can ski from the hotel down to the main lift at the end of town.

You can ski right to the back of the hotel, and guests have their own equipment room with dehumidifying and assigned lockers. The restaurant is excellent, especially the steaks, and they reserve the same breakfast or brunch table for you and your family throughout your stay. Rooms have heated floors. It’s a short drive up the mountainside from the busy main road, with its shops, restaurants, nightclubs and hotels. A great base for an Austrian winter visit.

The slope is just outside the hotel area, and there’s a basement ski room with overnight services for your equipment. The location is top-notch. I was impressed by the quality and range of the food in Austria, especially the fresh apple, carrot and celery juice I had every morning. Service, room cleaning and the spa were all great, with three different saunas. Staying here was definitely a big part of the enjoyment I had in Sölden.
