Hotel Madeleine

Michael and his team made us feel so welcome, and Hotel Madeleine has a wonderful atmosphere. This was our third stay, and it didn't disappoint. After more recent ski holidays in self-catering apartments, it was lovely to be back in a hotel. The food was amazing. There was a big salad selection, then starter, soup, main, dessert, and cheese if you had room. Everything was beautifully presented and tasted great. Breakfast had plenty of choice, and there was cake and a snack in the afternoon. The bar and lounge were great as well. The staff were friendly, professional, and efficient. Our rooms were serviced daily to a very high standard, and everything was clean and well maintained. There was a kettle in the room and a good selection of British TV channels. We also got undercover parking outside the hotel. The spa had a pool, saunas, an infrared room, a steam room, and a separate quiet lounge. The hotel is an easy flat walk into town, near the bus station and not far from the ski lifts. The ski area is great, and buses to Hochgurgl and Solden come every 10 minutes. We really enjoyed our stay.

The location and cleanliness made Hotel Madeline a decent choice. It's easy to get to town and the gondola, and the rooms were clean with comfortable beds. The staff were generally welcoming, if not especially memorable. I also liked having the sauna and steam room after a long day, and there was plenty of food during the stay. Some things need updating. The rooms feel dated and don't have modern touches like USB charging ports or smart TVs. The bathrooms need refurbishment, including new hairdryers and walk-in showers in place of the tubs. The towels and pillows were worn and should be replaced. WiFi was virtually nonexistent, and although there was plenty to eat, the food quality was mediocre and below expectations. Better attention to amenities and some modern upgrades would improve the stay considerably.

We had a fantastic half-term ski week in Obergurgl. The Madeleine looked after us well, and the food, service, and rooms were all great.

We stayed in one of the apartments, which was nicely maintained and had everything we needed. The owners were very friendly, and we felt welcome whenever we went to the hotel for drinks in the evening. We really loved the place. It would work well for couples or families, and we'll definitely be back. We had some views from our room.
