I wouldn't call this a friendly place to stay. Breakfast was dull, with the same fruit left in the basket all week, getting older each day. When I came down with the flu, I told the landlord, but nobody offered tea or bread, and I was too sick to go out. Luckily, friends in Soelden brought me food and drinks. The room on the second floor was very cold, with no heating in either the small room or the bathroom. I had to raise the issue repeatedly before they brought an electric heater. Getting there was easy, and the landlord was welcoming at first, even driving me to a restaurant in town. But Soelden is quite a distance away, and there are no evening buses, so you have to walk or take a taxi.

We were treated in a very hostile way. The host shouted at my pregnant wife and our 14-year-old daughter, and during the week she didn't answer her mobile when we urgently needed something. She kept most of our 150 eur deposit, claiming we hadn't cleaned the breakfast table, even though the deposit had been taken for damage. Avoid at all costs.

We left a couple of dishes on the table after breakfast and put the rubbish in the bin. The deposit had been described as covering damage, and even the host confirmed there wasn't any. Still, we didn't get it all back, with claims that we'd left “mountains of garbage.” I regret not taking pictures. It felt like they could keep money for cleaning fees, or whatever else they wanted. The host, Nicole Riml, shouted at us and was extremely rude and disrespectful. I was 25 weeks pregnant, standing in front of her and unable to understand what I'd done to deserve that treatment. My partner's 14yo daughter was there too and witnessed everything. I can't recommend this experience to anyone. Avoid this place if you want to keep your nerves.

We stayed from January 16th to 21st, and I don't understand the five bad reviews. Nicole was extremely friendly. The place is dated in style, but it's very clean, tidy, and well looked after. Breakfast was simple and nicely prepared. For 70-75 euros a night, it felt like excellent value. If helping clear the table when you leave is too much, book somewhere for 200 euros a night instead. My traveling companion recommends it too.
