Konrad Hotel-Pension Garni

The place is extremely basic, with no kettle or soap, but the ladies running it were helpful whenever we asked. We had booked for two adults and two infants and found only a double bed in the room. The ladies sorted out extra beds the next day. There's a bus stop outside, though service is limited: one bus an hour for four hours in the morning, then one an hour back. You can walk to anywhere in about 10 minutes. Without the ladies' help, I'd rate the stay one star.

We have spent three weeks here this season, so I can respond to the earlier Google review from experience. The Konrad is a simple, affordable and spotless pension, not a high-end hotel. The hosts are charming, the rooms are warm, the beds very comfortable, and there's plenty of hot water. Breakfast combines continental options with eggs and frankfurters, and the food is fresh and replenished regularly. Getting around is straightforward. Line 2 (Green) stops beside the pension and runs hourly; Line 8 (Pink) runs four times an hour from Feuerwehr/ Fire station, 150 steps from the front door. The walk into the village is easy and level. Every guest gets a Wilder Kaiser card for free local Post Bus travel, including connections between ski resorts and trips farther afield, such as St. Johann in Tirol on Bus 4060. A few local customs may be useful to know: tea and coffee in rooms aren't the norm, and guests are expected to take off outdoor shoes inside. Slippers or sliders are fine. Restaurants don't provide tap water for free, Austrian twin beds are two mattresses with separate bedding on a solid base and don't split apart, and supermarkets in Soll close on Sundays. Essential non-medical supplies are available at the petrol station on the main road out of the village. The Konrad is a lovely place to stay.

A cozy room with a lovely view from the window (see picture below). The staff were kind, breakfast was good, and both the town center and the lift are nearby. Great value for the price!

The value for money was very poor. In our three-bed room, there was a hole in the ceiling corner leading into an old children's room. It was really creepy. The bathroom was old, unhygienic and run-down. I wouldn't recommend it.
