Hotel Tyrol

We were unexpectedly put in LANDHAUS, the separate annex across the street. I assume it’s used when the main hotel is full. There are no water, coffee or tea facilities, or minibar in the rooms, so you’ll need to buy drinks and take them up yourself. On the plus side, there’s a free ski equipment room downstairs, and the free bus to the lifts stops outside the hotel. The main hotel is cosy and a bit dated, more like a guest house, but still comfortable and very nice. The restaurant food is excellent, and the staff make you feel welcome. They were great, especially Julia. I’d recommend it for couples or groups.

The ski bus stops right outside this comfortable, lovely hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the food was excellent. We had a very enjoyable stay, and my children, aged 8 and 11, loved it too.

The room was a little small, but it was cleaned spotlessly every day. The staff were all very friendly, and the table service was first class. Tom deserves a special mention for making us feel so welcome. The food was fantastic. The seven-course meal at the end of the week was the best I’ve eaten anywhere, and the breakfast buffet was sensational, with loads of choice. After skiing, it was great to use the immaculate swimming pool and relax in the spa. Such a welcoming hotel. I’d love to stay again.

The rooms in the annex are very dated. When our bathroom light broke, we were told it had been reported but that the electrician didn’t work after 4pm. I asked to use another room to shower, and eventually someone from the kitchen came to change the bulb, but only after we’d complained twice. My holiday was really spoiled by the customer service. I have coeliac disease and can’t eat gluten. The restaurant adapted meals most of the time, and I appreciated the tasty gluten-free roll at breakfast. But at dinner, when everyone else was eating bread, they curtly told me the gluten-free rolls were only for breakfast. I asked three times and took it to the restaurant manager, Claudia. Like the others, she rudely said no and walked away. They hadn’t run out of bread. It was simply hotel policy, and it felt discriminatory toward guests with medical dietary needs. Turning away from a guest repeatedly over such a simple request was appalling. I’ve never experienced such ill-mannered behaviour. I was paying the same as everyone else and hoped they’d be more accommodating. The whole thing left me feeling excluded and discriminated against, for no reason. The family running the hotel seemed worn out by the season. None of them could manage a smile, let alone a greeting. This was my second visit and will definitely be my last. They don’t deserve my business.
