Der Alpenblick

The staff took such good care of us, and I’m especially grateful they mailed home the expensive earphones I’d left behind. They were a gift, so it meant a lot. Breakfast was to die for, and we had a great experience at the hotel. Vielen, vielen dank!

We had an amazing week here with our toddler. The food, pool, sauna, cleanliness and kids zone were all things we really loved, and the view was great too. The staff took care of everything with smiles and such a good vibe. The owner was extremely nice, welcoming and fun to talk with. Thanks so much for hosting us.

We spent a week here in January with our family on a half-board ski holiday, and loved the outdoor pool. We used it every day, even with snow falling, which is one of our must-haves for an annual ski trip. Der Alpenblick delivered. The hotel has recently been renovated, and the rooms are clean, spacious and nicely minimalist. It’s above St. Johann im Pongau, in a stunning but somewhat isolated spot. The walk to the ski lift in Alpendorf was magical each morning; after skiing, we were tired enough to take a taxi back. The food was excellent. Breakfast had quality produce, plenty of bread and cereals, and several kinds of eggs. They made porridge for me each morning at no extra cost. The kids would’ve liked bacon and pastries, but still found plenty to eat. Dinner was delicious, varied each night, creative and beautifully presented, with a choice of main course. The roast chicken one evening was the best I’ve ever tasted. If the set dessert didn’t appeal, delicious ice cream was available instead. The staff worked hard and were really friendly. We liked being among Austrian and German guests, which made the stay feel authentic. Raimund was an engaging, entertaining host, and answered about 100 emails from me before we arrived. We had fun with him. For seven adults and teens, we paid just over 4000 for a week of half board, including wine and soft drinks, which were charged separately. I can’t understand why this isn’t a 4-star hotel. It was fabulous.
