Aiden by Best Western Stadtgut Hotel Steyr

We liked the relaxing feel of the room, with its nature scenes and lovely decor. It was quiet and very clean, and the staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was very good; fried eggs would be a nice addition. We enjoyed the stay enough to book another night. A minibar in the room would be great, too. Thanks for the lovely reply and for considering our suggestions. We’ll stop by again if we’re in the area!

Room 231 was great, and breakfast was amazing. I especially liked having an open shower with the toilet in a separate room, plus shutters and blackout curtains that kept the heat out and let me sleep during the day. There was even a clothes steamer in the cupboard. The hotel isn’t close to shops or cafes, so having a car would have helped. They explained at check-in that rooms aren’t cleaned every day. For towels, I could go to reception; to empty the rubbish, I’d have needed to ask where the large bins were and get a new bin bag. That’s better for the environment, and I try to keep my room tidy while I’m there anyway. I got back close to 1am and wanted a snack, but the bar was closed. A vending machine for when the reception and restaurant doors are shut would be handy. Still, I really enjoyed my stay at this Best Western Aiden Hotel. Thank you.

The room was clean, and parking was available, but I won’t be returning, even though I need to visit this city at least twice this year. When I mentioned casually that I was from Bratislava, the receptionist made an inappropriate, historically charged remark along the lines of, “Bratislava used to belong to us Hungarians 100 years ago.” That was uncomfortable and unprofessional. Some people may still live in the past and struggle with the so-called “Trianon syndrome,” a narrative passed down through generations, but after a long journey hotel guests shouldn’t have to hear nationalist frustrations or revisionist history. A receptionist should make international visitors feel welcome and keep things neutral, not provoke them over their nationality. This behavior reflects badly on the hotel’s standards.

We’d stay here again, especially since it’s child and pet friendly. It’s a lovely, clean, cozy hotel with everything we needed, and breakfast was delicious. It suits a stopover when you don’t need to be right in the center. Check-in at reception took too long both times, though.
