We found gluten-free bread at breakfast, and the mushroom stew with potatoes at dinner was lovely. The place is dog-friendly, and there are beautiful cats living on the premises. There were events and festivals too, and we got a glimpse of the Advent Market preparations. The owner is clearly passionate about the project, and it feels like people are putting their hearts into building a community around the castle. Every room has its own character, with a medieval interior and lots of interesting details. It was very clean and comfortable, with hot water, warmth, and quiet nights thanks to the double glazing and two doors. A few things could be improved: an English menu would help, since the internet doesn’t really work in the castle for translation, and only one person spoke English. Renovations are still ongoing, though they didn’t disturb us during quiet hours. You can tell it’s not fully finished yet, and I’d love to see how it feels once the work is done. This was the most unique accommodation we stayed in, with really good energy.

We spent New Year’s Eve at the Burg Hotel and had an unforgettable time. When we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised by a room upgrade. The room was spotlessly clean, well-equipped and, despite being in a castle, warm and cozy. It was a perfect mix of comfort and charm. The hotel had a magical atmosphere that made us feel like we’d stepped into a fairytale. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, always making sure we had what we needed. Everything about the stay felt perfect, from the atmosphere to the hospitality. Highly recommend it for a unique and enchanting getaway!
It’s an old castle that also provides hotel service, with an attached restaurant serving very good food.
The view from the castle is spectacular, and the location is great. But the place doesn’t seem to be properly looked after. We waited a long time for the waiter, then he brought my lunch to someone at another table and later brought me the wrong dish. I know mistakes happen, but none of the staff seemed particularly interested in sorting it out. Sorry guys, it wasn’t your best day.
We stumbled across it on Booking.com while travelling between events, and ended up having the whole castle to ourselves. Mario looked after us from arrival to departure and spoke fluent English. The food, service, and accommodation were all excellent. We might come back and make it a destination in its own right instead of just a stopover. Definitely worth a visit.
