SEE 31, Ferienlofts am Traunsee

The sauna, XL bathtub, and fireplace are all first-class, and the view from every room is impressive. The road runs right next to the house, but you can neither see nor hear it. It’s an architectural masterpiece in a breathtaking setting. We’d love to return, though leaving will be hard.

We arrived and were euphoric. For our family of six, holiday apartments usually mean compromises, especially with the layout and the style. SEE 31 was different: an architectural gem with a spectacular view and modern, stylish interiors thought through down to the details. The owners are architects, and it shows that they’ve created the kind of special place they wanted to stay in themselves. My favorite things were the starry sky through the bedrooms’ panoramic windows, and the high doors. At 2.05 meters tall, I finally didn’t have to duck in a vacation apartment. Every stay in these lofts is a delight. I’d add a “+” to the five stars if I could.

We came back to Traunsee31 for a second stay this year, and it’s just as beautiful in October as February. We enjoyed Loft 2 and Loft 3. The view over the water to the mountains drew us away from the stacks of books we’d brought along. The minimalist architecture, inside and out, has a calming effect. It brings clarity and coziness, structure and warmth together. You arrive at the lake and find yourself. We’d love to return!

We’ve been back four times already and are looking forward to the next visit. These three holiday lofts are modern, beautifully furnished, and very cozy, with fantastic lake and mountain views. The wood-burning stove makes time in the apartments a lovely escape in autumn and winter, whatever the weather. In summer there are plenty of ways to get out hiking, cycling, or onto the lake. There’s everything needed for a comfortable holiday, including a sauna, bathtub, Nespresso machine, and well-equipped kitchen. The architecture and design are a real standout. You can also book massages on request and have fresh bread rolls delivered. We felt very comfortable.
