Schützenhof

We’ve stayed at the Schützenhof more than once and always feel right at home in the comfortable apartments, with their lovely lake views. The hosts are attentive and always have a special welcome for us. We’re already looking forward to another visit and wholeheartedly recommend the Schützenhof and the Reichel family. The private beach has sun loungers, surfboards, and SUPs, along with a beach house that has a changing room, lockers, and a toilet. Next door at the lido, you can get tasty food and drinks during the day. There are also nice restaurants about a 10-minute drive away in nearby villages, including Kanzelstubn and Josefs, which has a fantastic beer garden. There are so many places to explore that we find something new each time.

We’ve stayed here four times and have always felt very comfortable. The apartments are clean, well kept, and great value, though they aren’t modern. They’re functional and have everything you need. Mrs. Reichel is always happy to share good excursion tips. The private beach area is fantastic, with a toilet, private wardrobe, loungers, stand-up paddleboard, and more.

The lake bathing area is fantastic and easy to reach on foot or by car. It has a wardrobe, toilet, changing room, loungers, SUP, and more. Our hosts were very friendly, answered all our questions, and offered extra tips. We had a wonderful time in the fully equipped Alpe-Adria apartment. Some parts are a little dated, but we felt at home right away, especially with the balcony looking out over the lake and mountains. We’d love to return, and thank you again for a lovely stay!

The highlight for us was the huge balcony. We could sit in the sun from morning to evening, look out over Lake Ossiach, and eat breakfast outside every day. The Reichel family also has a private beach for guests, about a 10-minute walk away. It’s equipped with a rowboat, SUPs, loungers, deck chairs, parasols, a changing room, toilet, and seating area by the beach house. Each apartment has its own locker for storing swimwear, which made things especially easy for families. The train station, boat dock, bus stop, and tourist information office are all within easy walking distance too. There’s extensive excursion information and maps in the house entrance, and parking for cars and motorcycles in the garage or carports. We spent two wonderful weeks in September in the Alpen-Adria holiday apartment. The website photos are great, but the place is even prettier in person. The apartment was spotless, tastefully and comfortably furnished, and we felt at home right away. There was plenty of crockery and towels, and the kitchen had everything. They’d even left shampoo, shower gel, tissues, and a hairdryer. The welcome was so warm: a fruit basket, a small bottle of sparkling wine, garden flowers on the table, a little floral arrangement in the bathroom, and delicious Reindling, a traditional Carinthian cake. The Reichel family were so hospitable and always up for a chat. They gave us lots of ideas for activities and restaurants nearby, since there unfortunately aren’t any restaurants in Sattendorf itself. The two weeks went by far too quickly, and we were delighted to receive a small farewell gift when we left. I’m a trained travel agent and have known many places to stay and host families over the decades, but rarely have I seen a house run with so much care and empathy for its guests. We enjoyed it so much that we booked two weeks for next year straight away. We’re very grateful for the lovely holiday and look forward to seeing you again in September 2024, dear Reichel family!
