The shared kitchen was a welcome extra: although the rooms don’t have their own kitchens, the owner told me guests can cook there. The place worked really well for a couple’s ski trip, with lovely rooms, a tasty breakfast, and a mountain view. You can see the lift from the window, and there are plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. The glacier is about a 15-minute drive away, or you can get there by bus.

We had a wonderful stay, and the owner was so friendly. Our room was a good size, cleaned every day, and had a breathtaking view from the balcony. Breakfast was a treat, with fresh pastries each day, plenty of meats and cheeses, a freshly boiled egg, yoghurt, muesli, sweet cake, and diced watermelon. The Zillertal guest card that comes with the accommodation gives you free local bus travel and discounts on some mountain lifts, plus other benefits we didn’t have time to try.

The house was fine for service, cleanliness, and breakfast, but neither it nor the town felt particularly special. After five days of mountaineering, arriving in the tourist town of Tux was a bit disappointing. Construction and new, unattractive buildings take away from the beauty of the nature around it.
