We arrived late after hiking at Lake Weissee, just after the kitchen had closed, but the chef still made three meals we chose. The staff were so kind and helpful throughout. It was the best restaurant we visited during our week there: the food was delicious and the service was truly lovely. We hope to return someday.

After a pleasant walk in the Wiegenwald, we stopped here for lunch. The ‘Gemüsegrössl’ was really good, and the XXL schnitzel was enormous. The backhendlsalat didn't impress us much, and the kaiserschmarren was a little dry.

The area is amazing, with beautiful hikes, and the owner was friendly and ready to help. We got in late, around 21:00, but he still sorted out our lift ticket discount for the next morning. The room wasn't fancy, though it was perfectly comfortable, with a cozy feel, great beds, and a good shower. Fine as long as you keep your expectations realistic.

After a long day of hiking, we stopped for dinner and had a really good, generously sized Wiener Schnitzel. We didn't try anything else, so I can't say more about the food. The setting isn't pleasant, with a huge parking lot and what looks like a construction site for some party, so I wouldn't pick it for an overnight stay in summer. Winter might be different, since it's right by the cable car.

The hosts are friendly and fun, and the food is hearty, with a vegetarian choice every evening. The rooms are thoughtfully laid out and the ski lifts are very close. It's great for a few days of regular skiing, or longer if you want to explore off piste or ski Alpine. There's lovely walking in summer too, with beautiful, unspoilt views. I can't recommend the place enough.
