AlpenParks Chalet & Apartment Steve Lodge Viehhofen

The apartment itself was a relief after the check-in hassle. It was modern, nicely furnished, and seemed high quality, with lovely rooms and shared areas. There was plenty of space for all nine of us, including two small children and seven adults. The building sits on a hillside at the edge of town, with a terrace and beautiful views in the morning and evening. Getting there after a long drive, we were surprised to learn that check-in was in another building down in town. A friendly staff member kindly picked us up and took us there. Then we waited in line at reception for half an hour with other guests. Afterward, we were told our pre-check-in apparently hadn't worked, so we had to enter the details for all nine travelers again by hand. The atmosphere felt stressed, and it took some of the excitement out of the trip. The accommodation deserves five stars, but the service made us take one off. Parking was tricky because our apartment for eight had only two spaces. When we asked, reception suggested another place to park. We also requested a baby cot, and a caretaker came by promptly. Viehhofen is a bit away from the popular ski resorts, so getting there means driving or taking the ski bus.
