Awful and dirty, with creepy staff. Save your money and time. I’d rather die than come back.

The location is convenient, but the place itself was a complete dump, and the value for money was terrible even at a low price. I was relieved to leave Vienna accommodation like this behind. The apartments were unbelievably filthy. Dirt and stains covered the walls, skirting boards and floors, food scraps were scattered around, the bin still held rubbish from previous guests, and the sink was caked with grime. The old windows were opaque with dirt. The bathroom was worse than a subway restroom, and the kitchen was barely equipped: in a three-person apartment there were two plain plates, two cups, a few pieces of cutlery and two glasses, but no pots or pans, just lids. At least there was an electric kettle, microwave and stove. WiFi was unusable. HOTEL-ADAM showed up in the available networks, but the signal was too weak or faulty. The building was run-down, with rubbish strewn across the asphalt and a filthy, unlit garage. The reception felt like a warehouse, was outside the rest of the building, and closed from late afternoon until morning. It smelled of the manager. There was an ATM and another similar machine, but neither worked with any card, so payment had to be in cash, with no receipt or guarantee. The manager and cleaning lady were the staff. The cleaner only changed sheets when guests left. The manager seemed completely incompetent and slow to understand. He spoke a mix of German and English, slurred both, and didn’t understand most questions. When guests asked for two keys, he replied, “I have the key to all.” He was dirty and had no technical knowledge. After a blackout one evening, guests called to ask where the electrical panel was. He said he didn’t know, would send someone the next day, and told them to go to sleep meanwhile. He was physically away from the hotel from around 6:00 PM until morning, and seemed mentally absent all the time. The wiring and electrical circuits were exposed, and the apartment door lock was so poor that a push could let anyone in. Is this supposed to be a three-star hotel? It doesn’t deserve even one and a half. The authorities still haven’t taken away any stars, despite the state of the place.

We stayed in December 2013. It was central and fairly priced, and for what we paid we liked everything about the place.
