I booked a one-bedroom apartment for a week, from 1-8 June, and was assigned apt. 2 at Familienplatz, 3. As soon as I opened the door, I got a strong cigarette smell that seemed to be covered up with air fresheners. We had booked a non-smoking apartment, so I couldn’t stay there and asked to move. They agreed to put us in apt. 5. The next day CheckVienna told me to leave apt. 5 and go back to apt. 2. When I refused to stay in the smelly apartment, they pressured me to cancel our non-refundable booking. In just a couple of hours, around 10 different managers called, demanding that I leave or cancel. The last call was from property manager Martin, who was extremely rude, yelled, and threatened to throw me out by force. After hours of calls and a day in Vienna completely ruined, I got the property to refund the unused nights. I agreed to the refund amount, but Check Vienna then deducted an extra $40 as a “cleaning fee” that hadn’t been mentioned. After apt. 5 was cleaned, my original laptop charger went missing. The property said they hadn’t found it.

The room in the ottakring area was very nice, and everything was clean. A few things were missing: a toilet brush, enough toilet paper, and somewhere to hang our jackets. We were all happy with the apartment and will definitely stay here again on our next visit to vienna.

This was the worst experience ever. I booked a room months in advance, but when I arrived to check in, they’d forgotten to clean it. They canceled my booking on the spot and left me in the city with four children and nowhere to sleep. I’ve never had such a horrible experience, luckily. When I called, they hung up on me and never answered another call. Watch out. They don’t deserve even one star or to be in the hospitality business.

The place is clean, with everything you need. Check-in was amazing, almost like something from a movie. You should go see it. Just keep in mind it's quite far from downtown.

The flat has all the basics and is great. It's a little way from the center, but Vienna's public transport is reliable and runs on time. Take tram 44 and you can reach the Ring in about 15 minutes.
