The room looked pleasant and was very spacious, and the hotel’s in a convenient, nice area. Walking to the centre and different attractions took about 20-25 minutes, or you could take the metro, tram or bus. We found a good deal, but at full price it would have felt like a bit of a rip-off. I wouldn’t rate it as a four-star hotel anymore. Some things were worn out and need replacing. The window between the bathroom and room doesn’t let you see anything, but at night the light can wake the other person. The sliding door doesn’t give full privacy and sometimes gets stuck open. The double bed was two pieces, which wasn’t ideal but was okay. The old duvets had filling bunched up in places and empty patches elsewhere, so they weren’t fluffy. Our room windows were blocked. That’s fine in winter, but summer would have been stuffy. Cleaning was okay. Sometimes coffee or paper wasn’t replaced, but we asked and staff brought it later. Staff were mostly pleasant. We skipped breakfast and didn’t have time to try the wellness facilities.

The breakfast was amazing, and the hotel was clean with good WiFi. It’s fine for basic needs, food and a bed, but not if you’re after special service. I travelled alone and had to order food outside with Justeat. They need a bar where guests can buy snacks and drinks. I also had issues with the room. I prefer a bath, and the Italian-style setup wasn’t what I wanted. The windows wouldn’t open at all, so good luck with smells. There was no night bar, drinks service or Rooftoop to enjoy the view. I really don’t like this new hotel mentality of forbidding guests from changing the TV input, especially when I’ve paid for a room.

Our room was spacious at 35m2 and clean, with a working fridge and a TV you could cast to from your phone. Tram 18 connected us to the main train station, and U4 went to the center. But if you book one of the first two room categories, SUD or SPD+, the windows can’t be opened or even tilted. We had no fresh air, which was a clear downside for us, and could hear the air conditioning all night. This wasn’t mentioned when we booked, and we would have chosen somewhere else if we’d known. We couldn’t switch rooms because none were available. The request for two single beds we made through Booking.com wasn’t fulfilled either. Breakfast was fine and had a good variety, though we’ve had better. The breakfast room didn’t feel worthy of a 4* hotel, with old, unattractive tables and chair upholstery that was dirty and damaged. The fitness room had very basic machines and two mats that weren’t very suitable for yoga, but it was still nice to have. The rooftop looked nice, though it was too cold for us to enjoy. Check-out at 12 was pleasant.

On our last night, 11/1/26, the room was absolutely boiling. I called reception repeatedly for an hour, but nobody picked up. My partner went down to investigate and found someone tucked away in a back room, watching Netflix. That was really disappointing. The room itself was massive and better than I expected. We got a “superior plus” room as a free upgrade from Booking.com, and I was delighted with the £62.50 per night price. I loved the enormous bath and the heated bathroom floor.
