Do Step Inn Central

The bathrooms are nice and private, with showers in separate rooms from the toilets, and the common areas were cleaned daily. The location is probably the hostel’s best feature, right by the subway and train station. There’s no staff here apart from the cleaner who comes in the morning, so if something goes wrong you’re left with an email address and phone number. Everything is self-service, even putting on your bed sheet. Several people struggled to check in and get their room number and code. The rooms are small, with no lockers, so your bed has to double as storage and you have to lock it. The beds feel like coffins because there’s so little space.

My first time in Vienna was great, thanks in part to a helpful staff member. It’s a good clean, well-organized place for budget travelers. The rooms are clean and well organized, there’s a good kitchen, and the central train station is nearby, with access to all of Vienna. Don’t miss this place if you’re in Vienna.

The place is in a great spot, right across from the main bus and train station, with lots of supermarkets and cafés nearby. It’s really clean too. The cleaning lady deserves an award, as I never saw anything dirty. She was cleaning all day, though, and maybe could use a little help. There’s never anyone at reception and no security guard. Nothing happened during my stay, but being able to speak to staff right away if something comes up would make you feel safer and more at ease.

My things were taken even though both my compartment and the room were locked. When I asked about the hallway camera footage, staff wouldn't let me see it. They were unhelpful, and customer support never answered the phone or replied to my email. I wouldn't trade peace of mind for a booking here.
