Hotel Erzherzog Rainer

Getting around was easy, with U1 just a three-minute walk away and only two stops to Stephansplatz. The whole hotel feels classy and a little like stepping back in time, while still having modern conveniences. The people at Hotel Erzherzog were consistently courteous and professional from the time we booked. Although check-in starts at 3 pm, they let us into our room at noon. It was lovely and clean, but a bit cramped for two people with a large suitcase and a carry-on each. The bed was comfortable, and we could choose our pillows. The restaurant buffet was very good, with plentiful, well-prepared food and options for different diets. The staff there were helpful, including one waitress who speaks seven languages. The room also came with a generous supply of coffee and tea, and we could ask for more. A couple of things to know: paying extra for a courtyard view isn’t worthwhile, since there’s no real view beyond stairs and other rooms. The walls don’t block much sound, so even ordinary noises from neighbors, like sneezing or coughing, are easy to hear. There was construction during our stay and plenty of banging, though not late at night. That was temporary and may not be an issue soon. We’ll definitely return.

We had an excellent breakfast, with hours that worked for both early risers and people who wanted to sleep in a bit. The reception stays open around the clock, and the hotel is close to the city center, well connected, and easy to reach from the airport. Our room was clean and the staff courteous. We stayed three nights and had a great experience. We’ll definitely choose this hotel again when we return to Vienna.

My husband and I stayed for four days, and I still have very fond impressions. I’d been here about 10 years ago, before the renovation, and loved it then too. The staff were especially friendly, and both the hotel and rooms were clean and tidy. Housekeeping was excellent, and the Wi-Fi was fast and stable. Breakfast came with classical music and Prosecco, which was a lovely touch. The fish selection was a bit limited, but everything else was delicious and high quality.

I love this hotel, tip top! The room was warm and sparkling clean. The receptionist was really helpful, and the cleaning lady helped me open the room door because the key was a bit tricky.
