Eurostars Grand Hotel Wien

The hotel is beautiful, elegantly decorated, and in a perfect location. The staff were exceptionally professional and courteous. I especially loved the thoughtful little touches, like the radio in the bathroom, and the room service was wonderful. Their Caesar salad was delicious, though the burger wasn't so great. I also enjoyed the powerful, massage-like shower pressure, adjustable makeup mirror, heated floor in the toilet and bidet room, deep bathtub, large bathroom, plush bench, and robes in several sizes. The elevators were very quick. You can order room service on a tablet, too. There were downsides. My room smelled musty, probably from the carpet, and the AC and heating unit worked inconsistently. I faced an office building and didn't feel comfortable opening the blinds. On my second day, there was no hot water at all. After the conference, I found a hotel note saying it had been interrupted because of an ownership change, which was confusing. I'd skip the breakfast buffet and eat outside the hotel.

We were a family of four and managed to get connecting rooms. It's easy to walk to the tourist sights, including the Christmas markets, and the breakfast buffet has plenty of choices, plus made-to-order options like eggs, omelettes, and pancakes. The staff speak very good English, the rooms are comfortable and even have a pillow menu, and the shower has a full door, good pressure, and plenty of hot water. A cheese on the breakfast cart was new to me, and no one knew what it was at first. They checked with colleagues, then a chef came out, showed me a whole round so I could take a picture, and offered me the entire thing. That's five-star service. The service throughout is outstanding. I absolutely recommend Grand Hotel Wien and hope to return when it's warmer.

We didn't stay at the hotel, just stopped by for a cocktail around Christmas. The space was nice, though the atmosphere didn't feel especially warm. The cocktails were disappointing: the Negroni seemed watered down and poorly mixed, not what I'd expect from a hotel with these ambitions.

The manager's personal attention made our September 19th to 22nd stay especially memorable. As Platinum Elite members, we felt recognized and appreciated, and the care showed everywhere, from housekeeping to the staff anticipating what we might need. We had booked a Grand Room and were delighted to be upgraded to a magnificent suite. It was beautifully decorated, very spacious, and had both a handy guest powder room and a kitchenette. We travel a lot and have high expectations, but Grand Hotel Wien exceeded them. For travelers who notice and appreciate the details, this is a lovely place to stay in Vienna.
