Hotel Secession an der Oper

Breakfast was outstanding, both in quality and in its huge range of choices. The staff were polite and always ready to help, too. It's an excellent hotel very close to the city centre, and I'd highly recommend it.

The hotel is very close to both the city centre and a metro station, which made its location especially convenient. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well equipped, and the breakfast and service were excellent. A strong choice in central Vienna if you're looking for convenience and good value.

I only realized how special this place is because of two emergencies on December 26. Early that morning I slipped badly in the room and needed serious first aid. Later, with nothing open in the city, the zipper on our huge suitcase broke on the morning of our flight. Barbara, who used to be a flight attendant, calmly taped it shut, then found a spare high-end suitcase in the hotel's storeroom for our overflow things. Another guest had left it there months earlier. In both moments she was the calm voice I wish I had in my own head. I doubt even 20 years of Viennese psychoanalysis could give me that! The staff, especially Barbara, were heroic. You'd pay four times as much for service like this at a five-star resort, if you could find it at all, think The White Lotus. This place is special, so don't overlook it.

We found everything we came to see within walking distance, with lots of places to eat nearby. The room was clean, comfortable, and well appointed. A clean, reliable subway and train system is just steps away, and we had a great experience.
