Ibis Vienna Airport

The room was dirty, and cleaning seemed to have been neglected. There was hardly any shampoo or tissue left. And I won’t stay here again. Even though it’s an airport hotel, there’s no shuttle. They arrange a taxi that I found to be a ripoff. We left early in the morning and paid 49 euro for a 15 minute ride. I later checked and Uber was about 20 euro. The receptionist didn’t tell us the fare when we booked, saying it depended on the driver’s rate. But the driver said the price was fixed at 49 euro and he’d been doing it for 15 years. If it’s fixed, why doesn’t the hotel know?

The hotel-arranged taxi was the worst part. No fare was explained beforehand, and the driver charged me an unreasonably high amount at the airport. When I questioned him, he said it wasn’t his responsibility. Somehow I was also charged for both the Vienna-to-hotel trip and the hotel-to-airport trip, even though I only took the taxi from the hotel to the airport. My room was dusty and clearly not cleaned properly. It had a double bed but only a single-size duvet, and the amenities were far below what a hotel should provide. Totally unacceptable. I’d strongly advise people to be cautious about staying here.

I chose this property as an ALL Elite member because I needed to be near Vienna airport for an early flight. When I tried to shower the next morning, there was no hot water. Reception said it was a technical problem that should be fixed by 07:00, but I had to leave for my flight before then. The worst part is they already knew about the problem when I checked in and didn’t tell me. That felt deceitful and completely unprofessional, and does real harm to the Accor brand. Unbelievably bad experience.

The resident chef cooked the food right in front of you, and it was exceptional. The hotel is more than a 15 minute drive from the airport, though, and there’s no courtesy bus. False advertising!
