My City Apartments am Naschmarkt

It was nothing like the photos. The apartment was in a basement and very old, with cockroaches and ants. Even the bathroom door wouldn’t close. We left for another hotel without trying to stay there. Disgusting!

For 26 euros a night through Agoda, this was a good deal. It’s right opposite the metro and a short walk from the big market. The bedding was clean, and the bathroom had a large shower. There was a little noise from pavement repairs during the day, but at night it was quiet even with street-facing windows. There’s a kettle and fridge, but no TV or microwave, perhaps they’ll add one later. Check-in is self-service with code locks and a SmartLock Box for the room keys. We initially tried the building entrance marked 56, but My City Apartments is 20 meters to the right.

The owner couldn’t be reached and sent no directions for accessing the key box or room. Agoda couldn’t get hold of them either, so we were able to get a refund. Don’t book there under any circumstances.

The rate for one night in August 2020 was great, but everything else was a disaster. The accommodation emailed to ask if I’d received the check-in instructions. I replied three times through Agoda to say they hadn’t arrived, then tried the listed phone number, which was unavailable. My email through Agoda came back undeliverable too. With no communication at all, I cancelled the accommodation. This is not Austria, it’s Tatarstan!
