Pension Madara

We loved staying in this historic hotel. The staff and manager were genuinely friendly and helpful, and the rooms were clean with good facilities. Shops and supermarkets are close by, and the old city is easy to reach.

The pension is a bit removed from the sights, and getting to anything interesting meant changing at least two trams, buses, or metro lines. Still, the room was nice and very clean, with self check-in available. It was cleaned daily while we were out, and on our last day the host let us leave our luggage there until it was time to head to the airport.

The room was clean, the bed comfortable, and the price fair. The toilet could have been a little more comfortable. Service was very nice and everything went smoothly. The tram is right by the building and the metro is an easy walk away. There’s also a pleasant restaurant/cafe and a grocery nearby. I’d recommend it for a stay of up to 5 days in Vienna.

For a budget trip where you mainly need somewhere to sleep after a long day of sightseeing, this place works well. It’s very clean, the bed is big and comfortable, and the rooms are spacious. The reception, which I think was the owner, was polite and really friendly. The bathroom does have a very strong smell, though, so keep the door shut and you should be fine. You get a small fridge, TV, heater, table and chairs, a kettle and free tea. A tram stop is just a few steps away, making it easy to get around.
