Youth Hostel Brigittenau

The first room had a nasty brown mess left in the toilet by previous guests. When I complained, the receptionist offered a box of chocolates as a fix. We were moved to another room, but it was just as dirty, so I had to go out and buy cleaning supplies to make it usable. If I wanted to scrub toilets, I'd have stayed home. Next time, I'll send an invoice for my cleaning work. This place is a joke.

For what we paid, the place was good, especially compared with Vienna rent prices. It was mostly clean, the staff were friendly, and the food was fresh. I was a bit worried after seeing the Google Maps rating, but fortunately none of the problems other people mentioned happened to us. My main gripe was that the socket was too far from the bed 😄 There are USB-A ports nearby, but we only had USB-C, so keep that in mind if it matters to you. The light in the private toilet probably needs replacing, and a small bottle of shampoo would be nice. The center is quite far away, but the tram stop is close and we used it all the time, so it wasn't a big deal.

The tram made getting into the city center easy, about 15 minutes away. Our room was roomy, the bathroom was great, and the beds were comfortable. We were very happy with the stay, especially for what we paid.

The location was good for the price, and the room was cleaned. Staff could have been friendlier. On checkout day, at around 09h15, someone came straight into the room without knocking.
