Hotel Walserwirt

The rooms are large, and the hotel was clean and nice. Good food at the restaurant, too, for a reasonable price.

The location worked really well for us: we could enjoy the mountains and nature while still being close to Salzburg. My partner and I had a great, relaxing stay. The place is beautiful, cozy, well organized, and has plenty of comforts. Service was great, and breakfast was delicious.

The pool and sauna were quite alright, which is why we gave it two stars. Our room felt old and dirty, with broken furniture and holes in the pads. It really didn't feel like a four-star hotel. The Wi-Fi on the first floor barely worked. When we asked about getting it fixed, we were just told to restart our phones and that nobody before us had had trouble with it.

The food was very good value in the end, though it wasn't cheap. They have some excellent Austrian classics, including Tafelspitz, alongside international dishes, with both meat and non-meat choices. They handle the butchering themselves, and you could tell from the dishes. Service was professional, and I always enjoy seeing Austrian staff in traditional clothing. We found the place by accident after two great days at the Grossglockner with our two veteran cars, when one car had issues and, on a hot day, we needed somewhere to cool down and eat. The green courtyard had a great atmosphere. The entrance looked quite luxurious, so we worried it might be out of our price range, but the menu had good options. Outside was lovely; inside, some areas felt a bit dated, and their private spaces could use some cleaning up. If you're around, give it a try.
