Gratzerhof

We spent two weeks in the larger apartment with a balcony. The host family was always helpful and very friendly, and the welcoming, family-like atmosphere made us feel at ease. There’s plenty of parking right in front of the house. The apartment is very clean and seems to have been renovated recently. The furnishings, including the bathroom fixtures, looked new. It has a combined kitchen and living room, a bathroom with shower, one double bedroom, and another bedroom with two single beds reached by stairs from the living area. There’s also a small hall with a wardrobe. The kitchen has a fridge with freezer, dishwasher, stove, microwave, coffee maker, kettle, and other small appliances. A large table, corner bench, and chairs can seat around eight; there’s also a sofa and small table. TVs are in the living room and double bedroom, though reception could be better. Children can play on the lawn, where there’s a swing and ping-pong table. We used the garden seating area, and there’s a charcoal barbecue; a gas grill may also be available. The farm has cows, most of them up at the alpine pasture in summer, calves, a pig, and two cats that were often out and about. Our child loved being there for feeding and milking and getting to pet the calves. It’s a great base for all sorts of activities, with neighboring towns easy to reach. Depending on your plans, the Lungau Card may be worthwhile, as it often reduces admission fees. We were very happy with our farm holiday and can absolutely recommend Gratzerhof.

The family made us feel very welcome, and the accommodation was lovely. It’s especially good for families with children. There are hiking routes for all kinds of walkers, even the lazy ones, and you can hunt for mushrooms in the private forest.

A lovely apartment with a friendly owner, close to the highway and a beautiful nature reserve. Several ski resorts are nearby too, including Katschberg, Flachau, and Obertauern.
