We went with six friends and are already thinking about coming back. Sonnalm is rustic and comfortable, with clean, spacious rooms, though they aren't at a five-star standard. The food was lovely, carefully prepared, with options for different diets. It's halfway up the ski mountain, away from the après-ski scene, and the view over town from the hot tub with a beer was a highlight. The family-home feeling made it easy to chat with both the staff and other guests. Thanks to the owners and the whole team for a great stay.

The quiet was exactly what our group of six, aged 27 to 46, wanted. In the evenings it was just hotel guests and the crew, and we could enjoy the view of the Zell Am See lake, soak in the hot tub each day, and have good Austrian food and drinks alongside some nice conversations. Sonnalm sits up on the mountain, close to the ski slope and gondola. We stayed three nights to get away from the party areas in the valley, and that worked out well. Maurits, Walter, Sonny, Amelie and Marie gave us a warm welcome and made the stay memorable. First time here, but surely not the last.
