Gasthof Kirchenwirt Zell Am Ziller

We travelled with a Caledonian coach trip in August 2025 and really liked the hotel’s setting. It was extremely clean, and the staff were lovely and helpful. There were a few early hiccups and teething issues, which may have been because this was Caledonian’s first time using the hotel, though I could be wrong. The food didn’t offer much choice, but I found it perfectly acceptable. Everything was sorted quickly. I’d happily come back to this delightful hotel. Big thanks to all the staff x

The pizza was wonderful, and the staff were really friendly and efficient. The food was great.

The staff were hard to find when I wanted to raise a concern. There was never anyone at reception, and the few people I did come across seemed to hate their jobs and treat guests as a nuisance. The food was easily the worst I’ve ever had: processed, served without care, and bad enough to make me think prison food might be better. Cigarette smoke is everywhere, including in the rooms and even on the drinking glasses. The whole hotel has that smell. If you enjoy smoking and want a cold-war East Germany feel from the 70s, you might like it. Otherwise, you may want to stay somewhere else.

The restaurant food was close to inedible, all processed and made without care. I’d avoid it. The hotel is badly understaffed, the staff are quite unfriendly, and customer service doesn’t seem to matter here. The smoking bar on the ground floor leaves the whole hotel smelling of smoke, and even the cleaning staff smoke in the corridors. Rooms are basic, with street and hallway noise coming through, worn-out furniture, and terrible WiFi. Choose another hotel if you can.
