Hotel Restaurant Ottenstein Superior

The breakfast was alright and the food wasn't bad, though the staff were a bit slow. My boyfriend and I stayed two nights in a spacious, generally clean room with a balcony. But in mid August, the lack of A/C made it almost unbearable. Sleeping wasn't fun, and opening the window meant letting in mosquitoes. I asked reception if they really had no A/C given how new the rooms are, and apparently that's a deliberate choice. The hotel welcomes children and dogs, but bear the lack of A/C in mind if you're thinking of booking in summer.

The reception was polite and friendly, but the cancellation information we got was inaccurate, which was really frustrating because now we have to pay the full amount. Cancellation has to be in writing, not by phone. They wouldn't offer a voucher as an alternative, only a date change with an additional 39€ fee. The place itself is nice. The downstairs rooms are outdated, while the newer ones are upstairs.

The staff are very friendly, the place is clean, and the restaurant serves good traditional food. There's great banter all around, and it's only a stone's throw from the Lake. I come here every year for work and have never been disappointed. I still don't like Eiernockerl, though.

The bowling alley is the hotel's jewel, with wonderful service and atmosphere. The place has unmatched hospitality, sits in lovely rural scenery, and is within easy reach of several castles worth visiting.
