Christies Beach Hotel

The sunset over the ocean was incredible, and we could see the waves from our table on the deck. The kids had a great time playing on the playground and grass while we enjoyed the drinks selection. Dinner with the family was delicious, especially the pork belly, and the gin selection was great too. We live an hour away, but it's well worth the drive. We'll be back.

The food arrived quickly and in a good order, piping hot, and everything tasted amazing. The place was clean and had a good atmosphere. When I asked for my son's birthday cake and for the staff to sing, they were back within three minutes with candles lit, plates and cutlery, singing happy birthday. The gentleman who cleared our table and brought out the cake was especially delightful, polite and lovely to talk to. I'd booked at short notice for my son's birthday dinner. The woman who took the booking was lovely and informative, and a young server greeted me as I arrived, offered to take the cake, checked my booking and showed me our table. Such a great night, 20/10, we'll be back!

We felt right at home here. It's a well-run suburban pub for locals and families, and you can turn up in shorts and thongs if you like. It was clean and busy, with good food, and it was nice to see a local pub in full swing. We went for dinner using the Dining Cash Promotion. If you're after a quiet, intimate night, choose somewhere quiet and intimate. This place is a great pub.

The food was awful. I paid $30 for watery frozen seafood: one small fish, a few dried salt and pepper squid pieces, and two deep-fried prawns. The pesto and tartare seemed to be mixed together. The chicken schnitzel was something I could make better at home. After finally returning to the newly renovated place after many years, it looked to me like the budget had gone on the decor instead of the food or staff training. From the moment we arrived, the staff seemed uninterested. I didn't see anyone available to complain to, as they were busy having a party of their own. The chefs kept going out for smoke breaks, so reheating the food they served would have been difficult. That's what it felt like in Christies BEACH. Save your money and appetite for somewhere that cares about its reputation.
