Hotel Metropolitan

A nice spot for a midday stop and a chance to rest your feet. The old building has lovely architecture, and getting to the toilets is a bit of a safe adventure in itself. There’s an expanded bar area beyond the one right off the street, and a good beer selection. Lots of people were ordering food, and the menu has a quality range of options.

A great base for exploring Adelaide, with an excellent location near the market, public transport, and many city highlights. The rooms are modest and basic, but more than enough for a solo traveller. The atmosphere is nice, staff are friendly and very helpful, and the food and service were very nice too.

A classic old pub, with a decent standard overall and middling service. Close to midnight on Saturday, I asked for a whiskey and they didn’t want to pour it. I understand, but they did serve it in the end. The vibe wasn’t great, which was a bit of a letdown. I’d suggest looking around to see what else is better. Nightcaps should be much easier on vacation.

I was only here for one night before a flight the next day. The staff were helpful, and thank you, matt, for ordering me a taxi. I slept well, it was nice and clean, and the morning coffee was lovely. It’s an older style place, and I hope it stays that way since there aren’t many old buildings left. The bathroom was shared, but that wasn’t a problem. Nice hot showers with good pressure. I’ll be back!
