Jacksons Motor Inn

We stayed four nights for Gather round, and the room we were first given reeked of cigarettes despite being marked non-smoking. When I raised it, the manager was extremely rude and told me, “just cancel your booking then.” I would have, but everything else was booked out. We eventually got a different room, but the bathrooms in the other rooms also smelled like sewage, and there was no room service or clean towels during our four-night stay. The whole place looked neglected, like somewhere rented by the hour. The restaurant looked so unappealing that I didn't see anyone eat there all weekend, and I wouldn't let my dog swim in the pool. The place was absolutely filthy. Don't waste your money, you'd be happier pitching a tent and digging a hole.

The service was prompt, friendly and excellent. I asked for a nice room, and the concierge recommended one that was acceptable. Nothing fancy, but the beds were comfortable, most of the curtains blocked out light, and everything worked. The bathroom could use an update, though that seemed fair for the price. We didn't use the pool, but it looked nice. There were arguments outside at night, probably from guests who would leave within a day or a few, though I can't be sure. We'd stay again if we needed budget accommodation nearby.

Adelaide was booked out, so this was all we could find at an affordable rate, and this will be our first and last stay at this motel. Prices at other motels and hotels had been inflated for the dates because of Ed Sherrin and other events, which is a shame. You only get what you pay for, but Jackson's didn't even meet basic expectations for a motel unit. I've stayed in Army tents, construction camps and other types of accommodation over many years, and Jackson's doesn't rate well. Richard W.

It's an old place, but if you just need a clean, comfortable room that won't break the bank, go ahead and book. The city is about a $30 cab ride away. There's WiFi, basic free-to-air TV in our room, plus the usual fridge, kettle, toaster and microwave. The shower was nice, and there's a pool if you fancy a dip. Everything was fine, just a bit old. Hey, so am I.🤣
