Majestic Roof Garden Hotel

The rooftop garden on the seventh floor was the standout, with spectacular views towards the Adelaide Hills. Great place to take a drink and unwind. The hotel was quiet, and I never heard other guests. My room was spotless, the bed really comfortable, and the separate bath was lovely after a day exploring. It’s very central to Rundle Mall and all its shops and restaurants. The air conditioning felt very cold even after I changed the temperature, so I had to raise it with the Front Desk. I enjoyed my stay.

Breakfast was a la carte and not expensive, but the scrambled eggs were more like a small omelette. The so-called thick-cut fruit loaf was two thin, dry, unbuttered slices with hardly any fruit. We’d stay again, but go elsewhere for breakfast. The hotel itself was nice, on a quiet street. Our room was clean and a good size, and the bathroom had been upgraded with a full bath.

The toilet cistern kept refilling every two minutes, so I knew I wouldn’t sleep well. Since it was Sunday and maintenance wasn’t available, reception offered two drink tickets. No one seemed interested in fixing the problem, so I took the tank lid off and put a rubber band around the inlet valve. That only fixed it temporarily. The next morning, reception had no notes about it, and I had to explain the whole issue again. A really poor experience, and I’ll consider other options next time. I arrived a little early to drop my bag and was told the room would be ready at 2pm. I went shopping, came back at 2, then waited another 30 minutes. The toilet was leaking, fortunately into the bowl and not onto the floor. I stayed two nights in January 26' and wouldn’t call the stay 'magestic'.

The rooms are old-style but very clean and quiet, and the service is wonderful. The cafe seems to never be open, though there are plenty of food options nearby. Great location, with most things walkable.
