Princes Lodge Motel

We’ve stayed three times because it’s good value and well placed for walking into town. This visit was frustrating, though: the power and hot water were shut off all day without warning. Some guests were offered a shower in a spare room, but nobody checked whether we had food that needed keeping cold or told us when things might be fixed. A little communication would have gone a long way.

I left after three days and have contacted my bank. I’d like a refund for the remaining two days because I couldn’t stay any longer. The single room in the coach house was filthy, with years of dust under the bed, holes and cracks, and what looked like poorly cleaned black mould. The TV power plug was upside down and clearly hadn’t been put in by an electrician. My lungs got so bad that I could barely breathe, and I needed a lot of Ventolin. The receptionist was pleasant and came to vacuum the dirt under the bed. I was very disappointed. Avoid room 22 or anything in that section.

I had a quiet room in the coach house and enjoyed my stay. Checking in was a bit of a hassle because of a new computer system, and it took a few phone calls before someone came to check me in, but otherwise it was good.

The rooms were dirty and run down, nothing like the photos, and the service was awful. There was black mould, and after just one day my breathing got so bad that I told them I was leaving early. They offered no refund or compensation. I emailed twice and got no reply, so I’ll take it up with the appropriate authorities. The room was so cramped I couldn’t sit on the toilet without my legs touching the wall. Disgraceful.
