Lumeah Retreat Bruny Island

Wallabies, native hens, ducks, little wrens, and robins were all around the area. We kept the fire going throughout our stay, which made the place feel cozy. The house had everything we needed, and it’s an easy walk to the beach. A great place for the whole family, little kids included, and a convenient base for exploring Bruny. It was perfect.

The beds were comfortable, the bedrooms a good size, and electric blankets were there for anyone who felt cold. A note for sleeping arrangements: the largest room, with two singles and one double, is reached through another bedroom, though there’s a sliding door if you want to go outside. We enjoyed the birdlife in the yard, kicking a ball around, and heading out late in the afternoon to look for the albino wallaby. We found one at the end of our street, and Pennicott Cruises was another good place to spot it. We had a special family gathering at Lumeah Retreat and were welcomed with a Tassie bottle of bubbles and lots of champagne glasses. The house was quiet, private, and relaxing, with lovely character and decorative touches. There was plenty of outdoor seating, plus a BBQ and fire pit. Inside, the wood fire worked a treat and there was lots of wood; the heat pump was handy at other times. The kitchen was well stocked with pots and pans, a sandwich toaster, rice cooker, microwave, and coffee pod machine with plenty of pods. We squeezed everything into the fridge and had a couple of drawers free for pantry supplies. The showers were good, with enough hot water for everyone, including those of us who showered in the evening. There’s a beach and local amenities within walking distance. Bean bags gave us extra seating alongside the two and three seater couches. The dining table could probably fit seven or eight with younger kids, and there were four stools in the kitchen. We saw pademelons from the garden out back and the Milky Way from the front lawn. Lumeah Retreat is one of the best holiday stays we’ve had. It’s all been thought through to make things comfortable, from the spacious rooms to the well-equipped kitchen, and everything worked perfectly.

We got to Bruny for the weekend and were able to check in much earlier than expected. Lumeah Retreat is a fantastic house with heaps of space and everything we needed. Thanks, we’ll be back.
