Inlet Beach Apartments

We didn’t stay the night and had to find other accommodation on an extremely busy weekend. It was especially disappointing because we were away for a friend’s birthday, and we’ll never come back. The apartment was filthy, as if nobody had cleaned it since the previous guests. Dust, fibres, hairs and marks covered the toilet roll holder; the shower door and frame had product splashes, mould and growth at the bottom, and the shower head jets were mouldy. The washing machine had a disgusting layer on the front that wiped off, the dishwasher was filthy and missing its knob, and the microwave was dirty inside and out. Food bits and drips were left in the oven and along the kitchen appliances, with dust and crumbs all around the bench drawer edges. The bedroom fan had about half a centimetre of dust on it, hanging off the blades. We were lucky not to switch it on. The air conditioner leaked over two square metres of floor and destroyed my friend’s $6,000 laptop. When I contacted the property manager, she told us to use a bucket and mop up the water with extra towels. She said it had happened a couple of times before, and that her air conditioner “does this at home sometimes.” When we raised the cleaning, she said she was sorry it wasn’t up to our standards and would speak to housekeeping. At $230 for a room, I expect it to be cleaned. She didn’t offer to arrange a plumber or do anything about the cleaning. It was a “deal with it” attitude. There was no offer of help.
