The old building has so much character, from the creaking staircase and antique wallpaper to the 4.6m ceilings, collections, and reproduction artworks. It has a real soul, and the location and old fashioned service made our stay wonderful. Breakfast was delicious too. If you prefer the Ibis, this place probably isn't for you, and you may not enjoy all the cameras and other displays. But if you like history, quirky things, and a beautiful old building, you'll love staying here.

Kathy arranged a home cooked breakfast, and there was complimentary fruit to snack on. Our room also came with a bottle of wine. The guesthouse is only a few minutes' walk from Albany's Main Street, with plenty of good cafes and restaurants nearby. The historic former bank is charming, filled with quirky homemade decor and a glass cabinet display of more than 1,000 cameras. There was a complimentary port station in the hallway and a small kitchenette for tea, coffee, and fridge use. I love staying in historic buildings like this and would recommend it. Just be aware there's no lift, and you need to carry your bags up two flights of stairs.

Our ensuite room was huge, and there were tea and coffee facilities plus a shared fridge on the landing. The owners were kind and very helpful, and breakfast was both plentiful and delicious. It's an interesting, quirky heritage building in a great location. I'd definitely come back.

Katherine and Phillip were wonderful hosts, and having breakfast in the dining room added to the homely charm. We chose this place for its history and weren't disappointed: the room was large, with cathedral style ceilings. It's well priced, but if you prefer modern accommodation, this won't be the place for you.

Staying here feels like sleeping in a museum, in a good way. Even with asthma and hay fever, my wife had no problems. We were there in summer and kept the windows open. The hosts were lovely and the location was great.
