Mantra Alice Springs

The rooms were a bit dirty, with rubbish left on the floor, and Wi-Fi was mostly unavailable. There was also a lot of noise from people late at night. At reception, we raised the fact that we hadn't been given the room we booked through booking.com. We only got our reserved room after paying an extra 15AUD. That was ridiculous, especially as it was already very late and the room would otherwise have been empty. We wouldn't stay here again.

We stayed at this hotel on three separate occasions during our time in NT. The rooms are roomy, comfortable and well equipped, and the central location means you can walk to everything. Despite that, it was very quiet and felt secure. The reception staff are kind and friendly. The internet is slow and unreliable, and in the evenings it usually disappears altogether. We'd stay again, though the website photos make the place look a bit more upmarket than it is.

The room was pretty big for the price, and the bed was good. We booked because of the storm and hoped to park our car inside, but the height limit was 2.2m, so our rooftop tent made that impossible. We parked beside the hotel instead. Reception said the gate would close at 9pm, but it didn't, so keep that in mind if you book. We were in room 317, where the Wi-Fi didn't work, apparently because it was too far from reception. The hotel is in the centre, and we woke up a few times to locals yelling.

We checked out after just one night, even though we'd paid for two, and lost the money. The common areas were filthy, and the place looked very run down and badly in need of maintenance. Our room's shower looked like it had come from a dump. The pool was closed for maintenance, but the sign looked like it had been up for ages. I can't understand how anyone gives this place a positive rating.
