Nightcap at Sandringham Hotel

The location is central, the staff are really nice, especially the housekeeping lady, and the restaurant was good. The beds were comfy, the wifi worked well, and the complimentary fridge drinks were replenished daily. I stayed five nights, and it worked for what we needed, but there were a few letdowns. The rooms need a proper spring clean because the walls are grubby. The TV isn’t smart, and its remote was gross and sticky. The shower kept switching between hot and cold, with the pressure dropping when it went cold, at least giving you a moment to step out of the stream. A steady hot shower and a way to watch movies would have been nice.

The manager and cleaner were both friendly and professional, and helped make the stay excellent. It’s close to the beach, with amazing views of the bay. Great stay.

We were given a drinks card at check-in, which was a cool touch, and the bar staff were delightful. The views from the bar were beautiful. My partner and I stayed one night, had a beer downstairs but didn’t eat at the pub. The room was spotless, and the beds were immaculately made, shoutout to housekeeping. Staff were lovely on arrival and checked us in promptly. The location really stood out, with a beautiful beach, supermarkets, bottle shops and the train station all a two-minute walk away. It’s super convenient and walkable. Thanks for having us, we’ll be back :)) x

There’s no lift, so it means climbing two flights of stairs, which could be hard for elderly guests or anyone who struggles with stairs. Our room had no towels, and there was no room phone, so we had to call the number listed using a mobile. The bathroom hadn’t been cleaned properly, with hairs from a previous guest in the shower, and the rooms could use some TLC. The beds felt light and had wheels, so they moved away from the wall when you leaned back to read. From the first-floor window, you can see the sea only by looking past the rooftop air conditioning units. The location is convenient, but there isn’t much else going for the hotel. It felt like a two-star place posing as a three-star. Maybe it works as a functional business stay, but it wasn’t right for our holiday.
