The Rising Sun Hotel

We liked our first dinner here so much that we booked another one, and the second visit was just as flawless. The food was spot on, a little classy for a pub but still felt right, and the staff even handed out free food during our visit. The service was prompt and kind, with that genuine country welcome. We’d only just arrived in Auburn for a week and decided to try the local pub on our first night. Just note that happy hour is only on Friday nights. I’ll be making the trip back to Auburn soon just to visit the pub!

The staff and atmosphere were lovely, but the food was average at best. My schnitzel was bland and the sauce watery. My partner’s vegetarian pasta tasted like jar sauce mixed with pasta and the vegetables they use for steamed veg. We stopped for lunch on the way to Clare. I’d come back for a beer, but skip lunch.

Outstanding service, and a big high five to Megan the Bar Manager for sharing so much local knowledge. We had a fabulous meal, too. The best rump steak I’ve had in 30 years. Congrats to the chef. Do yourselves a favour and come try the menu.

A lovely lunch today. I had the roast lamb and couldn’t fault it. Roast potatoes, carrots, sprouts, beans, Yorkshire pudding, and gravy, all my favourites. Thank you so much! Hubby really enjoyed his French dip sandwich. His only complaint was that there wasn’t enough cheese, and he loves cheese. I’d definitely recommend stopping in if you’re in the area or fancy a wonderful Sunday drive.
