Swimming at the boulders, about a 10 minute drive away, was heavenly. We also had a lovely morning with tea and coffee on the deck, looking out over the forest. The accommodation was perfect as a stop between mission beach and Cairns, though we liked it so much that we all wanted to return for a whole week. The rooms are some of the most beautiful I’ve ever stayed in, and the place feels lovingly put together, with a real eye for design and a clear love of the rainforest and architecture. Dinner at the pub was good, and the spotless kitchen meant we could have cooked there too. It feels made with soul, and I can’t recommend it enough.

The historic rooms have over-the-top luxury, and the experience was amazing. There’s no elevator and a few steps, but if that’s fine with you, it’s well worth it. The plants have grown enough that the place is a little hard to spot from the road. I appreciated that they stayed up for my late check-in, and there was a room available even though they were sold out for the following days. What a surprise!

The manager was friendly, and it was handy to cook in the communal kitchen. We fell in love with the place, so I’ve told my family to stay here too. It’s such a gem of a hotel, with a beautiful restored building, lovely architecture, bright colours, art everywhere, and decor I really liked.

You can park right outside the hotel, which sits at the edge of a small town among trees and lots of flowers. The balcony feels like sitting in a flower garden, as long as it isn’t too hot to sit out there. My room was perfectly clean, and I really liked the interior design.

The staff were so welcoming, and our room was clean and comfortable. We loved the beautiful interior decor and our stay here. I wish I’d booked a few more nights!
