Saddleback Ridge has flat, private sites, drinking water and rubbish bins, with a great view over Mt Barney. We stayed at this private campsite with our dog and kids, and the new owners made us feel welcome. One night, someone was lurking in the bushes close to our supposedly private camp. Apparently he was an astrophotographer. Our dog, on a long black rope, barked to alert us, and we got a dreadful fright. In a perfect world, he would have come over to our fire and given us a friendly heads-up. Aside from that, I’d highly recommend it, especially for groups.

On our last day, Ross proposed while I was standing on a rock in the middle of the creek. It was perfect, and a memory we'll treasure forever. The whole Easter camping trip at Mt Barney Lodge was beautiful, with stunning views everywhere and a peaceful, nature-filled feel even during the busy holiday period. Rebecca and Troy were lovely hosts, and Rebecca went especially far to make our stay special. The amenities made camping very comfortable. Mia, the resident dog, was a sweet visitor each afternoon around 5pm, coming by for her Kabana treat while we had cheese, meats and crackers. Thank you for creating such a magical place. We can't wait to return. 💍✨

The hosts were a delight, and there are some great walks and views in the surrounding area. The camping spots gave us privacy from other campers, with plenty of shade and good fire pits. The amenities block was well maintained, and those lovely hot showers were much appreciated. Looking forward to coming back.

Birds, lace monitors and wallabies were everywhere, adding to the feeling of a really special place. We stayed in one of the Queenslander homesteads, tucked into established gardens in a quiet corner. Its old-fashioned charm made it an ideal spot to reset, disconnect from tech and start the new year fresh. It sleeps 15, so it suits a large group, and the huge verandah looks out over Mt Barney. The linen was fresh, and the rooms were as spotless as a 100-plus-year-old Queenslander can be.

The amenities block was well above campground standard, and check-in was easy. The grounds and camping areas were immaculate, with a running stream along the front, fire pits, and wood available to buy on site, 20 rods a bag. There’s free WiFi, and the friendly, gorgeous dog Mia roams freely. Yellow Pinch carpark is only 900m up the road, a starting point for a Mt Barney climb or hike. We’ll return.
