Dinner at Edo Cucina was a real highlight, the food was delicious and the service was great. Our family of four had a lovely stay at the Lyndoch Hotel, and the girls were thrilled with their pink room and pink door. It was quiet, and we enjoyed relaxing by the pool and having a few swims in the beautiful weather. The room had what we needed, though morning light came in brightly and woke us up early. We'd happily come back.

We spent a lot of time wandering the grounds, looking at the sculptures and paintings and walking the trails. They were amazing, and I imagine the hundreds of roses make it even more special when they bloom. The rooms have been renovated and were clean and fairly comfortable, though you can still see the building's age. Ours had a microwave, plates and cutlery. The platter and breakfasts were much better than I expected. Chateau Barossa is right next door for Devonshire and High Teas, and Edo Cucina is a great Italian restaurant on site. The Lyndoch Motel was a pleasant surprise. I'd recommend it and would stay again.

The little things in the room made our stay even better: a kettle, microwave, toaster, crockery, glasses and matching cups that suited the retro-renovated rooms. There were also washing-up supplies, chilled water and good tea and coffee. Everything was very clean. The showers are old style but perfectly adequate. We've stayed here several times and really like the setting and location, handy for both the Barossa and Gawler. The grounds are pretty, and the pool is great. I'd definitely recommend it for a few days.

We visited several wineries, from small producers to well-known international names, and they were all an easy drive away. The town of Lyndoch, with its cafes, bakery and restaurants, was also within walking distance. The restaurant was closed over the New Year period, and the extensive gardens were being redesigned during our visit, so they weren't looking their best yet. We booked three rooms for our family, ages two to 80, and everyone was happy. Rooms were fresh, modern and very clean, with a full set of kitchen items, towels and soaps. There was green space, a pool, TV and games room for the kids and teenagers, plus BBQs and seating where the family could gather. Laundry and a dryer were on site, and management was there and helpful. I can't think of anything we needed that was missing. We'd love to return.

The Wi-Fi could use some work, but this is a fantastic budget option for a Barossa trip. My partner and I both enjoyed staying here. I hadn't been back for a long time, and last time was just okay. The cosmetic renovation has made a huge difference: a fresh look, updated amenities and a new Italian restaurant that's outstanding.
