Clement House

We were travelling from Sydney to Melbourne and wanted a nice overnight stay. Clement house looked perfect on Booking.com, so we were excited. I'd messaged Sue with our arrival time, and she said there was no hurry and gave me the code to enter the cottage. To our horror, someone else was asleep in the bed we'd booked. We called Sue right away to ask why she'd given the cottage to someone else after confirming our booking. She admitted she'd made a mistake and put the other people under our booking, and basically told us bad luck. She said we could have the Studio instead, which was $30 cheaper, even though we'd booked the whole cottage with breakfast. We asked if the other guests could be told to leave, but she argued with us, asked what we wanted her to do, and said she couldn't ask them to leave. The pictures made the place look gorgeous, but at 4pm we were driving on to Melbourne to try to find somewhere to stay that night. I'm very, very upset with this property. In hospitality, when you've given away a room that's already booked, you'd think you'd offer it free or half price.

The hosts were great, the location was excellent, and the place is pet friendly. The room was modern, clean and well presented. Best air b and b in Benalla, compliments to the owners.

We stayed in the studio, which was absolutely gorgeous, quiet and very comfortable. The Northo was just a hop, skip and jump away, and we had a delicious meal there.

The studio apartment was set quietly back from the road at the end of a private access lane, yet Benalla's main street shops and the Northo were within easy walking distance. It's charming, tastefully furnished and maintained, with all the mod cons and a great supply of breakfast items. The ambience was lovely, and the owner was welcoming and charming. Highly recommended. If I return to Benalla, I'll make a point of staying here. It's on my list.
