Bendigo Motor Inn

A decent budget place. The rooms were clean and tidy, though the photos were taken at checkout, so the beds are unmade. Service was all right. Rooms have a TV, microwave, 2-slice toaster, electric water kettle and bar fridge, plus reverse cycle air-conditioning. There’s also an iron and ironing board, and enough crockery, cutlery and glasses. Bathrooms are stocked with hand wash, shampoo, bath soaps and other necessities. Tea bags, coffee and sugar are provided in every room. The café across from the Inn could be a good breakfast option. I can’t comment on the in-house restaurant, spa or pool since I didn’t use them. Reception staff are helpful. Do bring your own drinking water.

The pool was a clean, safe spot, and we spent heaps of time there. Shops and places to eat are only a short walk away, too. Our room was fresh, comfortable and clean, and the staff went out of their way to make the stay terrific. We had a wonderful time at Bendigo Motor Inn.

The bed was so comfortable that I slept really well, and the room stayed quiet despite the location. It was clean and in good order. For a 3 star place I wasn't expecting much, but I was happy with it. They seem to be working through upgrades bit by bit. I'd stay again if we come back to Bendigo.

Room 25 felt like it had been overlooked at guests' expense, even though some of the problems seemed like they would cost very little to fix. The toilet roll holder was broken, leaving the roll on the bathroom bench out of reach, and there were other issues shown in the photos. The bedside tables looked like they might have cost $2 at a recycle yard, and I wouldn't put anything on them. Maybe the lamp had just been thrown in too. There was an overpowering disinfectant smell when I came in, so I left the front door open and opened the back door for airflow. Then I shut the wire door and saw a large hole in it. I put my Coke in the fridge and found the freezer badly in need of defrosting. The carpet stains made me wonder if that wasn't the first time. I've stayed in plenty of motels over the years, from budget to expensive, good and terrible. After just one night at Bendigo motor inn on my way home, I was left wondering what to expect from a budget motel. Do places like this count on people leaving and deciding not to review them? Yeah, I think so.
