Elm Motel

The room was tiny and road noise was noticeable, but it did what we needed for one night, and they allowed our dog for an extra fee. We were travelling with three adults and a dog, so I called to ask about the price. The person who answered just said “hello,” then said they’d call back after checking room availability, which struck me as odd. They later offered a rate below booking.com, so I booked by phone and T said we were definitely coming. Still, they called twice in the middle of the afternoon to check, which felt like overkill, and check-in was remote. The room had fresh paint, but paint was splattered across the floor, and a lifting floorboard was a trip hazard, especially for an 88-year-old. We’d booked for three, but there were only two bowls, so we had to buy another. I’ve stayed in bigger places for less money.

The room was comfortable and tidy, and it was good to see the facility getting plenty of maintenance and improvements. I’d stay here again.

I left right away and they refused to refund me. The blind wouldn’t close, and the room number and door code they gave me were wrong. I walked in and found someone else’s things, which was terrifying. Outside the room there were needle wrappers, and there was also a drunk staff member. Absolutely horrible. Avoid, avoid, avoid!

I was pleasantly surprised by the room, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The beds were comfortable, they responded quickly when I needed something, and check-in and check-out were easy. It was a great price, too. A taxi from the station was $22, and The Great Stupa was about 15-20 minutes away by taxi, depending on traffic. Ampol food works is next door. I’m looking forward to coming back next year. K Baker from Adelaide S.A.
