We loved how quiet it was, and waking to wallabies and rabbits before hearing penguins at night made the stay special. The room was tidy, and the beach and sunrise views are beautiful. Private access to the beach and Diamond Island was a huge bonus. Beachend Bicheno is a perfect place for a relaxing getaway, highly recommend it.

We had everything we needed for one night, including a comfortable bed. In the morning we heard the penguins heading back down to the ocean, then got a spectacular sunrise. Amazing location.

We stayed in the wombat unit and loved the wonderful views and two blissful bedrooms. The beach is an easy walk, with lots of shells and seaweed, and friendly people strolling along it. Such a gorgeous place.

The beach view was lovely, and it’s a short walk to a beautiful beach where fairy penguins can be heard early in the morning, though we didn’t actually see them. But I was very disappointed with the Magpie unit. It was reasonably clean, though dusty around the light fittings and bedroom dresser, and there was mould in the bathroom. The smoke detectors were hanging off the ceiling, and there was what looked like a water stain from a leak in the lounge. We could hear people walking and talking in the attached unit. It had a washing machine, dryer and mini bar fridge, but the kitchen facilities weren’t complete. There was no dishwasher or stove, just a portable plug-in cooktop, so I’m not sure why other reviews say it has full facilities.

From the window seat, I could read and watch the waves roll by. I stayed in the Starfish room, which was spacious enough for one or two guests and tastefully decorated in neutral colours. It was well equipped for a short stay. The shower had good pressure and hot water, and the bed was comfy, which are the main things I look for. The property felt quiet even though it’s on the Tasman “highway”. There’s private beach access, and the views over the paddocks to the sea are gorgeous. Wallabies appeared at dawn and dusk, with lambs bleating in the distance. I’d recommend it for a short stay and wouldn’t hesitate to come back.
