Bilinga Beach Motel

The view was beautiful, and the beach is just steps away. The motel room was nice, though the layout felt odd. We had to shift the lounge in front of the kitchen door to watch TV. Water leaked from the shower into the toilet area quite a lot, the bathroom sink was so small I could only fit one hand in at a time, and there was barely any hot water. We hadn’t been told the motel was near Gold Coast airport. It wasn’t too much trouble, but it would’ve been good to know.

We booked an upgraded room, but found paint peeling off the walls and mould in the bathroom. Check-in took 40 minutes at 1pm because there’s no reception and nobody answered the check-in phone. When we finally got hold of someone, they didn’t know which room we were meant to be in. We left as soon as we saw the room. It’s now been two weeks and we’re still waiting for management to call. The $250 I spent feels like the biggest waste of money.

The room was clean and tidy, but much too small for three adults, and the photos were misleading. At $179, it felt way overpriced. We were told parking was anywhere under the units, but when we got back from dinner there were no spaces left, visitors or otherwise, so my car spent the night on the road. The staff weren’t very polite or helpful. The first person at reception didn’t seem to care, and in the morning a staff member walked past us on the verandah as we were leaving. We even moved to let her through, and she didn’t acknowledge us. Rudeness on legs, lol. Sorry, I wouldn’t recommend the place.

We arrived expecting an oceanfront room with a sea view and direct beach access, then found out construction work meant there was no beach access. The only view of the ocean was through the construction site and orange fencing. The room also wasn’t very clean, with lots of peeling paint and cracked walls.
