Stawell Caravan Park

I left before my booking was finished, and even after several emails and calls promising payment, they didn't pay until I involved Consumer Affairs Victoria. The park was unclean, and the caretakers' house badly needed cleaning. The facilities were minimal, and most of the time you were lucky to find toilet paper. The office was supposedly open, but there was never anyone there. This place is a complete dump and not worth the hassle. The caravan park in town is much cleaner and friendlier. Avoid this place, and stay at your own risk.

The shower block was nice, the showers were hot, and there was a handy laundry with a sink for dishes near our caravan. Even with every powered site booked, the large park didn't feel crowded. Our site was fairly flat, had plenty of room for the van and car, and there were nice trees across the many acres. It was really good value at $55/night over Easter. A friendly staff member checked us in. They charged the full amount to my card before we arrived, so make sure there's money in the account you booked with. We were the last to book a powered site, but we didn't need all four nights and stayed for two.

We booked online and paid a 50% deposit, but arrived to a closed office with nobody to show us to our site. The groups were terrible, and the facilities were even worse. It felt totally unsafe and unpleasant. We left the next morning after just one night, though we could have stayed four. I would never use this caravan park again.

We arrived hot and tired late in the afternoon, only to be told our cabin booking was missing. They could pull up the confirmation emails they had replied to, but we still had to find somewhere else to stay. Stawell was full of fire management staff while the Grampians fires were still alight. Luckily, we got the last room at Stawell Motel. Kirrilee, the manager, was a legend, and I highly recommend the motel for accommodation. Nearly a month later, I still hadn't received a refund, despite asking for it ten times. I had booked the cabin in August 2024 for January 2025. Driving into Stawell Park Caravan Park felt like a scene from Camp Deliverance. There was rubbish and junk everywhere, and everything looked run down and dirty, nothing like the website photos. The information was misleading. It was a really, really bad experience. Looking back, I should have read the other reviews. Lesson learned. My advice is simple: don't stay there.
