I remember picking up the house keys from the real estate agent near the railway station, and Ted Bachelor's Studibaker Golden Hawk. My father was friends with the family, so I stayed here many times in the late 1950s, when Col. Ian Hunter owned the property. There was a billy cart in the woodshed, and we’d race it down the hill out front. I loved the big log fireplace in the lounge, where we used long toasting forks to toast bread and make sandwiches for dinner. The verandah ran along the bedroom side, and the bedroom doors were so cute. We’d walk out into the bush behind the house to see a special tree. Mrs Bachelor told us stories about bears, and I still remember them. This place holds wonderful family memories for me.
